Ethyl's Reopens in Williamsburg

Ethyl’s, known for its dance parties and “groove room” is reopening October 11th in Williamsburg and bringing back its popular go-go dancers. The Grand Reopening is set for October 13 from 9:30pm till late with DJ Ronnie Magri. Dancing, food, cocktails and fi’dolla’ burgers will be available. Italian restaurant La Devozione is going German (sort of) with Octoberfest at Chelsea Market. La Devozione is offering four Oktoberfest style beers from U.S. craft brewers. Each of the brews sell for $10 and include Talea, 'Dirndl' Dunkel Lager; Half Acre, Lager Town Marzen, Bunker Brewing, 'Bunktoberfest'; and Other Half 'Lager Village' Oktoberfest Pilsner. Prost!

Rye & Sons Whisky Launches

Former longtime Per Se sommelier and winemaker André Hueston Mack is turning his attention to whiskey. Mack is launching Rye & Sons, a winemaker's approach to rye whiskey while paying homage to the long heritage of American whiskey. The first vintage of Kentucky straight rye is meant to be enjoyed without pretense in any situation – poured straight or used in cocktails. It is described as having “bright notes of anise, cinnamon, roasted nectarine and salted caramel, and aromatic hints of orange zest, eucalyptus and clove.” It sells for $28.99 a bottle and ships nationwide. It can also be found in local retailers.

PaleyFest NYC 2022

PaleyFest NY 2022 will run from October 6-11. The acclaimed TV festival is back in person with appearances by Seth Meyers, Elisabeth Moss, Carrie Coon, and more, from The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, The Walking Dead, The Handmaid's Tale, Queen Sugar. This year's Festival also includes an exhibition of various costumes and props from the shows being celebrated. Tickets here

New York Coffee Festival Returns in October 2022

Compilation Coffee will be featured at this week’s New York Coffee Festival Oct 7-9 at the Metropolitan Pavillion (125 W 18th St). Compilation Coffee says it is all about bringing people together, celebrating preferences, and inclusion — in coffee, and in everything else. Guests can select from ten different pour over coffees (washed, natural, and rare processes) that are made to order by the cup (hot or iced) for $5 for a 12 oz. cup.

Rag Head at United Solo Festival

Rag Head: An American Story will be featured at the ongoing United Solo Festival at Theater Row directed and performed by Sundee Morrison. The play explores hate, hope and American identity while portraying seven inextricably linked characters whose lives are forever changed by one hateful act.

AIDS Quilt workshop at the Whitney

Signature Theatre unveiling the intersection of 42nd Street and Dyer Avenue in Hell’s Kitchen as Jim Houghton Way. The move celebrating founder, James Houghton (1958-2016), who formed the company in 1991 with a mission to provide a supportive artistic home for playwrights.
