Around Town - New York City is showing its Pride

In honor of Pride Month, Carlton Fine Arts is featuring a new exhibition, Queer Art 1950s -2021. Featured works include Andy Warhol’s The Witch from 1981 and General Custer from 1986; Keith Haring’s two Untitled works from 1982; and Heather Fazzino’s Pride Herstory from 2021. - Romero Britto’s colorful sculptures will also be spotlighted while conceptual artist Linjie Deng has created brand new works including Superhero Super Gay and Love is Flowing.

Also to celebrate, Black Tap is teaming up with Dough Donuts to offer an epic CrazyShake. Launching this Friday on June 4 (also NATIONAL DONUT DAY), the Pride CrazyShake is a vanilla rainbow shake with a vanilla frosted rim with rainbow sour gummies, specialty made dough doughnut rainbow donut, rainbow twisty pop, sour rainbow belt, rainbow sprinkles, & whipped cream ($21). The shake will be offered all month long at Black Tap SoHo with $1 from each shake sold donated to NYC’s LGBT Community Center.
This year’s New York City Pride events include:
-New York City Pride March is back after being virtual last year. It will be held on June 27th beginning at noon. This year’s theme: “The Fight Continues”
- Queer Liberation March kicks off on June 27th, starting at Bryant Park at 2:30pm. This year’s theme: “no cops, no corporations, no politicians.”
- NYC Dyke March will be held one day earlier, on June 26th, starting at Bryant Park and down 5th Avenue, ending at Washington Square Park.

Newly opened Puttanesca trattoria in Chelsea is offering “Wine Down Night” on Wednesdays. Diners 50% off every bottle of wine from Puttanesca’s wine menu (predominantly Italian wines, with selections from California and France). Every Thursday night is Oyster Night, where a Chef’s selection of oysters is $1 each. They can be pared with cocktails like the Passionista: White rum, fresh lime juice, and passionfruit.
The Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy is hosting “Sunset Picnic on the Pier” to help raise funds for the park’s upkeep. The specially crafted picnic will be held at Liberty Lawn at Pier 6 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Curated bento boxes, wine, live music and more will be offered. For ticket info click here.
