With the summer upon us, and the weather getting pretty steamy, what better way to cool down than with a bit of bubbly. Barbounia (250 Park Avenue South) has the perfect cocktail escape.
The Olympia is made with muddled fresh strawberries, Martini Bianco, peach and bubbles. It arrives in a tall champagne glass with a juicy strawberry as garnish. It's light, slightly sweet and truly satisfying. Other options include the Basilika with vodka, St. Germaine, fresh pressed basil and cucumber, and Portokali with scotch, orange marmalade, fresh lemon and rose water.
While there you can opt for a full Mediterranean meal or some mezze, like Fire-Roasted Eggplant with green tahini, marinated Japanese eggplant and schug, or Smoked Trout with labneh, dill, scallions, olive oil and trout roe. You can also order a sampler platter for sharing. The mezze arrives with delightful za'ater dusted flatbread for dipping. Cheers!
