November 18, 2020, 7:23.00 pm ET
Chef and entrepreneur Hong Thaimee is launching Thaimee LOVE, a six-month pop-up restaurant and food delivery service celebrating the vibrant tastes of her homeland. Originally from Chiang Mai, Hong has acted as a global ambassador for Thai cuisine and culture for nearly a decade winning acclaim for her restaurant Ngam in the East Village.
The menu at Thaimee LOVE will feature home-style Thai such as “Son-in-Law Eggs 2020,” sous vide fried eggs with caramelized tamarind; Copra Triple Coconut Hot & Sour Tom Kha Soup with coconut water, milk, and meat with king oyster mushrooms; Khao Soi, house made kale noodles, pickled cabbage, shallots, chili oil (with chicken or Heermance Farm honeynut squash); Warm Pork Laab “Chiang Mai style” with coconut and wild sesame sticky rice; and Whole Fried Heermance Farm Trout with crispy turmeric, garlic chips, Nam Jim Talay spicy dipping sauce. Monthly themes and dish specials will also be available.
“I think we can all use some comfort right now, and since travel is limited, I want to offer soul-satisfying dishes that transport guests to Thailand,” said Hong.
In addition to spreading her love and knowledge of Thai cuisine, giving back is central to Hong’s mission and philosophy. A portion of the proceeds from Thaimee LOVE will benefit City Harvest, the AIDS charity (RED), and ROAR, an organization raising funds for hospitality professionals impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Thaimee LOVE will serve lunch Wednesday-Sunday, 11am-3:30pm; dinner Wednesday-Sunday, 5pm-10pm. In addition to dine-in (with limited indoor/outdoor seating available, following all COVID-19 protocols), Thaimee LOVE will also offer delivery throughout NYC via Tock, Caviar, and Doordash. Thaimee LOVE is BYOB.
