La Grande Boucherie, the latest project by the Boucherie team, debuts Monday, November 23rd at 145 West 53rd Street. The sprawling space stretches across an entire city block at 6 1/2 Avenue of the Americas. It includes a massive 5,500 foot dining room and huge outdoor plaza evoking the joie de vivre optimism from the turn of the century, transported to present-day New York.

“By opening this kind of restaurant during COVID,” said owner Emil Stefkov, “We aim to bring hope to the city and to the restaurant industry. We have utmost faith in the people of NYC."

The restaurant can accommodate up to 400 guests with seating options for 150 while socially-distanced. Design elements include large, detailed wooden doors, a pewter bar, ornamental plasterwork done by hand, a cathedral glass ceiling, custom artwork, soaring patina mirrors, and cast iron railings made by artisans in France.

The menu - created by opening executive chef Bill Brasile, formerly of Minetta Tavern - features both classic and modern French dishes, with heavy focus on the meat program, including a signature prime rib au jus and an in-house charcuterie program with a bar showcasing the cured meats, as well as dry-aging rooms. Chef Bill Brasile also oversees the classic French cuisine with starters such as Salade Lyonnaise in a mustardy dressing, and French hors d’oeuvres like Steak Tartare and Escargot. Entrées include Moules Marinières, Alsatian staple Choucroute Garnie, and red wine beef stew Daube de Bœuf á la Provençale.

For the beverage program, most wines are sourced from France with some selections from the U.S. and other regions. The bar program also has a focus on absinthe and classic French liquors and cordials. The Boucherie team also opertates two locations in Union Square and West Village, as well as the Petite Boucherie also in the West Village.

La Grande Boucherie is located at 145 West 53rd Street (enter from 6 ½ Ave. pedestrian walkway), New York, NY 10019 (212) 510-7714
