Acclaimed chef Melissa Rodriguez of Mel’s is bringing together another group of friends and Michelin-star restaurant chefs for the second installation of the F.O.M.O (Friends of Mel’s Oven) Pizza Series, this time featuring all female chefs. These limited-edition collaboration pizzas will be available at Mel’s [85 Tenth Ave] from November 4th through December 29th.
The series invites some of the city’s most celebrated female chefs - many of whom Chef Melissa has known & worked with for years - to bring to life their own pizza creations. Each chef’s pizza will be featured on the Mel’s menu on a rotating basis, for a limited time only.
The menu will include limited edition pizzas from the following chefs:
- Saturday, 11/4 - 11/17 – Chef Angie Rito // Don Angie
- Saturday, 11/18 - 12/1 – Chef Ayesha Nurdjaja // Shuka, Shukette
- Saturday, 12/2 - 12/15 – Chef Alex Raij // La Vara, Saint Julivert, Txikito
- Saturday, 12/16 - 12/29 – Chef Hillary Sterling // Ci Siamo
The pizzas are available for lunch and dinner series (Friday - Sunday, 11:30am - 2:30pm; and Wednesday - Monday, starting at 5:30pm), alongside Mel’s signature wood-fired pies such as Margherita, Mushroom, Soppressata Piccante, and more. Reservations are available via Resy.
The first pizza to debut as a part of Mel’s new all female F.O.M.O (Friends Of Mel’s Oven) series is Chef Angie Rito of Don Angie. Her creation is The Hawaiano, an Italian take on a classic with pickled pineapple, spicy capocollo, Thai basil, fennel fronds, stracchino cheese, and passata. Angie’s pizza will be available on the menu at Mel’s through November 17th.
