NYC Bites: Fulgurances Gets a New Resident Chef, L'Appartment 4f expands to Manhattan, Levain Bakery

Fulgurances Laundromat just named Nick Tamburo, a former Chef de Cuisine at “Claud” and a Momofuku alum, its newest resident chef starting on January 9th. Tamburo is known for his wood-fire cooking and love for seafood, having grown up in Massachusetts.

L’appartment 4f, which makes killer croissants, is expanding from its Brooklyn Heights location across the Brooklyn Bridge to the West Village. In an Instagram post, the couple behind the bakery, saying they just signed a lease in the West Village that once housed a bake shop about 100 years ago. Stay tuned!

Fan Fan Doughnuts’ special Holiday Baker’s Dozen is being extended through January 15th. The shop was broken into on Christmas Day, and while no one was hurt, the shop did lose a lot of cash sales. So, if you are in the neighborhood, stop by and buy some of Fany Gerson's lovely doughnuts!

Levain Bakery, known for its colossal chocolate chip cookies, is branching out. It’ is opening a new shop at 2 West 18th Street in Flatiron. Look for its popular cookies, loaf cakes, breads, pastries and more. The exterior of the space is also pretty sexy. The latest note reads “coming soon.”

Did Chrissy’s Pizza just abandon plans for its brick-and-mortar store in the East Village? The shop’s been hinting that something was up. Now, Chrissy’s just announcing a residency at Superiority Burger at 119 Avenue A. It will be serving full pies by reservation only for the night shift (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) from 11pm to 2 am. A full bar and weekly specials will also be available.

Victoria Blamey, formerly of Mena, will soon be cooking again in the city. The New York Times reporting that Blamey will be serving as the Executive Chef at Blanca, a high-end restaurant from the folks behind Roberta's set to reopen at 261 Moore Street in Brooklyn come mid-January.
