NYC Bites: Restaurant Yuu Turns One, Leyenda Marks 9 years, and a Cookie Collab

To celebrate Michelin-starred Restaurant Yuu’s one-year anniversary, Executive Chef-Owner Yuu Shimano will be hosting a three-night, one-of-a-kind collaboration dinner with Chef Shiro Yamazaki of Michelin-starred Yamazaki, located in Tokyo. The menu includes Lobster Cream Croquette, Kazunoko (Marinated fish roe) Tart, Shibi (baby tuna) with seaweed, Crispy Suppon Karaage, Wagyu Sirloin Sukiyaki Watercress, Wild Strawberry Coconut ice cream, among others. Dates are May 15, 16 and 17 with 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. seatings. $350 per person; reservations can be made via Tock.

Latin-inspired Cocktail bar Leyenda is celebrating nine years of serving up creative and classic cocktails in Carroll Gardens. To celebrate, Leyenda will hosting a circus-themed birthday celebration on May 20th with entertainment from DJ Chichadelico, face painting, and $9 cocktails and mezcal pours while supplies last. Cocktails from Leyenda’s past will also be served, including the Chilcano, Lil Smoky, Pan Am Sour, Cabezazo, Daiquiri, Margarita, and Paloma. The food menu includes favorites like the Tequila-Flamed Shrimp Arepa, Tostadas de Aguachile Verde, and the can’t-miss Yuca Frita. Owned by cocktail legends Julie Reiner and Ivy Mix, Leyenda is well known to locals and the bar industry internationally.

Dan Kluger’s The Bakery at Greywind is collaborating with pastry chef and Milk Bar founder, Cristina Tosi for a limited edition cookie box featuring signature cookies for Mother’s Day and beyond. The cookie boxes are priced at $21 and include 6 cookies – 3 of Cristina’s beloved Greta Cookies (named after Cristina’s mom) which are a take on the classic sugar cookie with sprinkles, alongside 3 of Greywind Pastry Chef Jake Novick-Finder’s Chocolate & Currant Hamentashens. Cookie boxes are available for pick up + delivery now through 5/31, pre order link here. Partial proceeds will be donated to Cookies For Kids With Cancer, a charity that both Dan and Cristina support.
