May 8, 2021, 12:04.13 am ET
In New York City, 2021 will go down as one of the toughest years ever for restaurants, but seven managed to earn Michelin stars for the first time.
They include Tsukimi for what Michelin describes as a "proper jaiseki meal." Italian spot Rezdora is recognized for its "authentic" regional fare that continues to impress. Jua made the lift. Chef Hoyoung Kim, formerly of Jungsik, receiving the honors for "weaving Western influenes" into his Korean cuisine.

Don Angie got the nod for handling "bold flavors with creativity and finesse." Kochi's "expertly grilled skewers" helped it make the list, while Chris Cipollone's "intriguing flavors and textures" brought home the honor at Francie. And the seventh restaurant, Vestry, was recognized by Michelin for its "marriage of Asian ingredients with classic French technique." To all of them we say, "Congratulations!"
