For National Moscow Mule Day (3/3), PHD Terrace is taking a 180° approach on the fourth edition of their Instagram-famous Moscow Mule. The one gallon cocktail for up to 8 people - the Butterfly Effect ($115) - crafted by seasoned Beverage Director Nikki McCutcheon, featuring 2020’s top trending ingredient Butterfly Pea Tea and vodka. It’s topped with edible fresh flowers and available from March 3 to March 31.
Norm's Pizza is going square. The pizza shop (345 Adams St, Brooklyn, NY) is adding traditional Sicilian and pepperoni Sicilian pies to their menu made with dough that’s been fermented for 24 hours, par-baked and topped with Mozzarella, Garlic Oil, Pecorino, Extra Virgin Olive Oil & Tomato Sauce for a light and crispy finish.

For National Ravioli Day (March 20), VIA VAI is offering some handmade creations. Executive Chef and Owner Antonio Morichini’s dishes include Tortello di Brodo stuffed with chicken broth and finished with parmigiana fondue, lightly dressed with truffle sauce and a marsala wine reduction, and Raviolo di Gamberi, sheet thin-pasta stuffed with shrimp and a butter thyme sauce, finished with a little orange zest for a citrusy bite.
New Menus…

MIFUNE (245 E. 44th Street, NY), known for its Washoku cuisine, has created two new tasting menus from Michelin-cred chefs Yuu Shimano and Tomohiro Urata. Highlights include Quail Caviar, a Chef Shimano creation, that resembles a bird’s nest with a poached quail egg atop crispy potatoes with sturgeon caviar and sunchoke purée underneath, served with a thin slice of buckwheat crepe. Kombu Steamed Fluke is Chef Urata’s dish with the fish ornamented with lotus root, winter vegetables and a hint of tamarind, with piles of parsnip ribbons on top. A server will dress the fish with a Kombu-Shiitake tea tableside.
Masti, a new Indian spot in Williamsburg, is highlighting Indian street foods, including Pao Bhaji made with mashed tomatoes, cauliflower and potatoes, served with fluffy Pao bread hot from the oven.
Doing Brunch?
Bella Luna, on the UWS, is offering breakfast pizzas in both savory and sweet options. Brunch is served on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and caters to pizza fanatics with the savory Bacon and Egg pie with tomato sauce, mozzarella, bacon and egg as well as Strawberry Nutella with ricotta, strawberry, and basil… for those with a sweet tooth.
For St. Paddy’s Day…
- Oscar Wilde – dedicated to the legendary Irish literary – will serve up homeland specialties including corned beef and cabbage with Irish soda bread ($26), Irish lamb stew with Irish soda bread ($24) and will offer patrons the option to make your beer green. Just ask your bartender!
- Lillie’s in Times Square and Union Square, which is named after the British socialite who was once friendly with Oscar Wilde, will also offer corned beef and cabbage ($20), Irish lamb stew ($18), Irish soda bread ($6) and the drink special of a pint of Guinness and Jameson Irish Whisky shot of $15. There’s also green beer for $7.
- Located steps away from the Fifth Avenue Parade, Papillon Bistro & Bar will be adorned with all things green and will also offer green beer, Guinness, Irish coffee and much more.
- Underdog (55 Stone St.) is launching The Knappogue Club, a pop-up hosting St. Patrick’s Day celebrations during the month of March. The immersive, 'grammable experience will feature cocktails, bites, neat tastings of several Knappogue Castle expressions, a photobooth, and more surprises, all within an upscale authentic Irish setting.
Upcoming Festivals…
Bowl of 'Zole. A new festival in Williamsburg on February 29th that is celebrating mezcal and pozole. 10 different pozoles and 50 Mezcals will be highlighted. Participating chefs include Julian Medina (Toloache), Ivy Stark (Casa Bovado), Gonzalo Rivera (La Esquina) and many others. Tickets are $55; $125 for VIP.
Brooklyn Cider House is hosting its first annual Fermentation Festival on Sunday, March 22. Known for their natural hard ciders, expect all things fermented – kimchi, cider, kombucha, beer, sake, wine, cheese, cured meats, pickles, bread and more from local vendors such as Despaña, Wayside Cider, KCBC, BKE Kombucha, Brooklyn Brewery, Variety Coffee, Brooklyn Kura Sake and more. General Admission Tickets are $25; $45 for VIP tickets.
Looking Ahead…
Mochidoki will debut its new SoHo store in March. Mochidoki SoHo (176 Spring Street ) will highlight the endless possibilities of mochi ice cream. Developed in collaboration with Michael Laiskonis (former executive pastry chef at Le Bernardin), offerings will include Matcha Latte with matcha mochi, pistachio crunch, Italian meringue and gold leaf decor; Peanut Butter Passion with passion fruit mochi, peanut butter, passion-raspberry coulis and peanut butter cookies; and more.
