The holiday season is kicking off as the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree begins its journey to New York City. This year’s tree, a 74-foot-tall, 11-ton Norway Spruce donated by the Albert family, was cut down and loaded onto a flatbed truck on Thursday, November 7, in West Stockbridge, Massachusetts. Earl Albert, along with his son Michael, daughter-in-law Shawn, and their three children, posed for photos in front of the massive wrapped tree before it was lifted onto the truck.
Neighbors gathered to watch, some dressed as elves, as the tree was prepared for transport. It will arrive in New York City on Saturday, November 9, where it will be raised at Rockefeller Center. Soon, it will be decorated with thousands of lights and topped with the iconic Swarovski star, ready for the upcoming tree lighting ceremony that marks the start of the holiday season in Manhattan.
