Places to Celebrate Dry January in New York City

At the Empire State Building's flagship restaurant, STATE Grill and Bar, guests can enjoy four refreshing mocktails with unique flavor combinations. Non-alcoholic offerings include the Pear Ginger Spritz (pear purée, ginger syrup, sparkling cider), New Apple Fashion (New York State apple cider, bitters), and Lime-Sicle (fresh squeezed lime juice, sweetened milk). Also available is a bottled Phony Negroni, served on the rocks. STATE Grill is located on the ground floor of the Empire State Building, at 21 W 33rd Street.

James Beard Award-winning Chef Dan Kluger is launching Dry for Why at his newest concepts Greywind + Spygold [451 Tenth Avenue, on the edge of Hudson Yards], a new mocktail menu from January 8–31 to kick off “dry January.” The mocktails ($15) include Dirty Chai Tonic with espresso, chai spices, Fevertree tonic, and lemon; Coconut “Golden Milk” Colada with orange, tumeric, coconut milk, lime, and cinnamon; Grapefruit Nogroni with non-alcoholic apertivo, pomelo verjus, and grapefruit; among others. A portion of proceeds will be donated to the New York Food Bank and Cookies for Kids Cancer.

Bohemien Bar (97 Atlantic Ave) in Brooklyn Heights is serving up unique and delicious mocktails to give the feeling of celebration while alleviating the guilt of breaking a New Year’s resolution or a headache the next morning. Highlights include the Roselle, a blend of ritual tequila alternative, bitter orange cordial, lime, and hibiscus, as well as Welcome to Paradise, with clarified fennel juice, pomegranate molasses, and Indian tonic.

Donna in the West Village is serving up Dry January concoctions with unique flavors. Drinks include the Nada Colada, a spin on Donna’s Brancolada, now made with N/A amaro and rum, mint, coconut, and pineapple; Spring Break, a sweet blend of N/A Ritual Tequila, mango, passionfruit verde blend, and citrus; and Extra Credit, with ginger, lemon, elderflower, and cucumber tonic. The drinks can be paired with Donna’s pan-Latin inspired dishes like the Braised Pork Papusa or Whole Roasted Fish.
Dry January Offerings at Sereneco feature local and premium ingredients. Bittersweet Bliss is made with Three Spirit Social Elixir, orange, lemon, and ginger beer; Livener "Paloma" with Three Spirit Livener, grapefruit, lime, agave, and soda; and Nightcap "Penicillin"with Three Spirit Nightcap, lemon, honey, ginger. Sip your favorite mocktail while nibbling on shareable plates like Whipped Ricotta or the Roasted Mushroom Crostini.
